Francis House in-house facilities and tranquil gardens
The physical environment allows space for reflection and thought, whether in our relaxing lounge, pool and snooker room, music room, chapel or library. Externally the seven acres of grounds with water gardens, rockeries, pathways, seated areas and woodland walks provide areas for personal recuperation. We believe that people find peace and restoration simply through being here.
The main building offers 18 single rooms and designated Smoke-Free with some bedrooms designated Non-Smoke Free. A few examples of these rooms are shown below.
Kitchen and Dining Room
We have an in-house kitchen and dining room offering three meals a day and can accommodate for a variety of dietary needs including special diets, for example, vegetarians and diabetes.
Around the Garden and Lakes
Part of our landscaped gardens has ornamental lakes and in season the popular sport of course fishing is permitted in one of them. Fishermen are expected to supply and be responsible for their own fishing equipment. (Sea fishing is available locally and is chargeable).
An enclosed hard weather surface area with artificial lighting allows for both individual and team sports and games. Equipment for playing outdoor sport is available on loan from the general office.
A quarter acre serves as a kitchen garden. Tasting homegrown produce is an experience in itself especially when you can pick vegetables in the morning and eat them in the afternoon! Three greenhouses are used for the cultivation of plants for the house and grounds. If you are interested in horticulture there is plenty of opportunities to practice and develop your skills.
The gardens are designated Smoke-Free.
